Save Fuel

While there are many different kinds of gas heaters in the market today, the vent less kind have become very popular of late. This is predominantly because of the very high fuel efficiency that they offer as compared to other kinds of heaters. As their name suggests, they do not have any vents and therefore do not take in or emit any air and emission respectively. They are available in three basic models which include:

Wall Mounted: These gas heaters are ideally meant for large walls and should not be moved around. They offer advantages that include space saving as well as great heat distribution.

Freestanding: As the name suggests, these are typically mobile units which can be moved around as and when required. The only drawback is that they take up unnecessary space and may be a safety hazard for small children.

The third is the display variety which has many sub models that appeal to different user requirements and needs.

Advantages And Disadvantages

There are many advantages of vent less gas heaters. They provide up to 99.9 percent fuel efficiency which places them at the top as far as running costs go. The fact that they use little fuel and give out no emissions also makes them a favorite with environment conservationists. Unfortunately, they need to be used with care without which they may not work so well. For example, not ensuring enough ventilation in a room or fixing a powerful gas heater in too small a room can lead to asphyxiation. There is also a misconception regarding the carbon monoxide emissions by these heaters. The truth is that all combustion will produce some carbon monoxide and the level produced by a gas heater is far lower than a conventional fireplace. It is however important to ensure that there is sufficient airflow in the room where any heating device is installed.

One real disadvantage of these ventless heaters is the increased humidity levels which too can be counteracted with proper air ventilation. It is however important to remember that gas heaters though cheaper and easy to run, require a great deal of care and maintenance to work effectively. There are some models that can be serviced at home but many others require to be taken to the factory or workshop for all servicing needs.

The kind of gas heaters that you invest in should depend on the exact need you have for them. Heating for a baby’s room requires a different heating device than heating for a garage. The best way to decide the power and kind of heater you need is to call in an expert. They will not only be able to advice on the best heater for your requirement but also the best price and place to source it from. It is important to ensure that you sign a maintenance contract for the heater that you buy to cut down on long term servicing and other repair expenses.

Drive Slower, Save the Planet!

The environment is a hot issue that we just can’t afford to ignore any longer. To some, being environmentally aware is a way of life, a necessary and fundamental aspect of existence. To others being ‘green’ is something to aspire to, a lifestyle that with a bit of guidance could be achievable.

Young people have been brought up in a culture of ecological revelations, such as the depletion of the ozone layer and melting polar ice caps. We all know that these things are still happening yet we’ve still got a long way to go before the impacts of modern society on our planet are decelerated. Our parents weren’t particularly clued up about the effect that peoples’ actions have on their environment and recycling was certainly never an option in many houses in the 80s and 90s. However, these days we do have the resources and the knowledge to make little changes that can improve the planet for the better. If we can slow down on the road then we might be able to slow down climate change.

High levels of Co2 emissions are one of the biggest influencers of climate change and environmental damage. Exhaust emissions contain a myriad of chemicals which clog up the atmosphere and cause long term damage to our surroundings. Aviation contributes to a large proportion of the damage. Each jet requires hundreds of thousands of gallons of fuel to get to its destination. Short of getting to your holiday resort by rail, a bit tricky if you’re off to the Maldives, there is little that you or I can do about aviation emissions. However, drivers can make a massive difference to the environment by taking a few steps to reduce their emissions and help reduce harmful pollution.

You can reduce the amount of fuel you use by up to 25% by changing some of your habits. Driving is expensive, with the cost of car insurance, road tax and fuel to consider. It’s not difficult to alter your lifestyle; we owe it to our future offspring and more importantly right now, we owe it to our pockets!  Whilst we may not live long enough to see the benefit to the environment we can feel the immediate benefit to our pockets.

By being slightly more conscientious drivers we can all make a huge difference.

o    Keep a steady speed when driving; by reducing the use of your pedals you reduce the use of fuel.

o    Anticipate conditions, and accelerate and decelerate efficiently. This is safer and uses less fuel. It is also proven that you won’t get to your destination faster by speeding. According to Earteasy.com the most fuel-efficient speed for your car is roughly 55 mph, or 90 km/h. Increasing your speed from 55 mph to 75 mph boosts your fuel consumption a stunning 20 percent!

o    If you are in traffic or caught behind railway gates, then turn off your engine. Idling uses up a great deal of fuel especially when some train gates stay down for as long as ten minutes.

o    Keep your tyres pumped up to the correct level. This will save you up to 4% fuel.

o    Maintain your car and change the air filter as recommended by the manufacturers’ guidelines.

o    If at all possible, car share to work, this will save you money and give you a clear conscience! Some companies arrange car share schemes as do some local councils.

o    Walk to work if you live nearby. Not only will this keep you fit but you’ll also save fuel and money.

o    Buy a car with a small engine. This will not only cut emissions but also means really cheap car insurance, cheaper tax and manoeuvrability in busy towns. Driving a 4×4 means 50% less fuel efficiency, so unless you are a farmer and regularly go off road, there really is no need to drive a gas guzzling vehicle in urban areas. By the way spray on mud is a dead giveaway!

So, we can all cut our costs and save the planet at the same time by making a few changes to the way we drive, but what about the future of fuel? Surely driving more slowly can’t be the only solution?

The future of travel

There are some innovative new energy solutions, new engine designs and hybrid car concepts which are set to take off in the years to come.

Hybrid cars are vehicles that have an ordinary combustion engine combined with another energy source such as batteries or electricity. The alternative energy source takes over from the engine when it is inefficient, such as during long slow drives. These hybrids are extremely efficient and half as polluting as normal cars with petrol engines. The good news is you don’t even have to change your beloved car because it can be converted as long as it’s less than six years old. This can be costly but long term it could save you money. There are also several government schemes running that can help you to convert your car. Some manufacturers have already caught onto the benefits of hybrid vehicles. For examples of hybrids look at the Toyota Prius, the Ford Escape and the Honda Accord to name but a few.

Electric cars may be the way ahead for city dwellers. With no emissions and using a quarter of the energy consumption of a similar sized petrol car they may revolutionise driving in the longer term. Although the cars currently on the market only drive at a maximum of 40 mph, they are exempt from tax, some congestion charges and great news for young people… they are in the lowest car insurance group. After the initial outlay of around £8,000 the car is cheap to run and extremely eco-friendly.

The future of fuel

Sulphur free fuel: We can expect to be able to buy this by 2008, in fact this will become compulsory by that date.

Biodiesel: This is a blend of 95% low sulphur diesel and 5% rapeseed oil. This reduces CO2 emissions by as much as 5% and can be used in an engine that hasn’t been converted to this type of fuel.

Bioethanol: Although this could take years to become widely available it produces less air pollutants and is renewable. It is made through the distillation of wheat, sugar or biomass. It can be used blended in unmodified engines or straight in modified engines.

The future of our environment is in our hands. If you can’t afford to buy a hybrid car or convert your engine, you can certainly make a start on your eco friendly lifestyle by following the driving tips above. It’s not too late to decelerate the impact of our polluting behaviour by decelerating our driving. It really is worth it for the future of the planet and for the health of our bank balances.

An Easy Guide to Fuel Saving Devices

Saving fuel is an important and practical thing you can do to save money and the environment at the same time. With so many fuel saving devices on the market right now all promising to be the best it can be overwhelming to say the least. So what to do?

The first thing you need to understand about fuel saving devices is that most of them flat out do not work. The best device out there right now is a simple air pressure gauge. Not only is the air pressure gauge inexpensive, it works well and will honestly save you fuel. You use the gauge to check the air pressure in your tires. Properly inflated tires are a must if your looking to save fuel economy. Tires that are not inflated properly will not only cost you gas mileage, they will also have more wear and tear and are more prone to blowouts. This is why and air pressure gauge is so important and probably the most useful fuel saving gadget that you can own.

The point is that there are plenty of ways to save gas without having to buy a device. Simple steps such as checking the air pressure in your tires and overall maintenance of your car will save you more money and more fuel than any of the devices .

In addition to the list of things to do to save fuel checking the filters in your car is a must. Always check your oil filters and air filters making sure they are clean and replace them when they are dirty or old. Having clean air filters and oil filters in your car is a great way to save fuel without having to buy any fuel saving devices.

Another great way to save fuel is to check all of fluids of your car. The antifreeze, the power steering fluid, the engine oil fluid, and all of the other fluids of your car should be checked and changed frequently. Maintaining the fluids of the car, the belts, and the hoses will do more to your car than any of the fuel saving tools that I’ve tested out on my own.

Hope this helps in your quest to save gas, money, and the environment. Please remember that there are many things that you can do on your own that will increase your gas mileage and help you save money and help the environment without having to buy any expensive fuel saving devices.

35 Tips To Save Fuel!

The following tips should help you achieve fuel economy as well as help protect the environment.

1. To begin with, choose the right car for your needs, if just driving around the town is what your needs entail, procure a lighter vehicle (hybrid or gas driven) instead of a big gas-guzzler.

2.Considered as one of the most important factors affecting fuel economy, the need to ensure the right tire pressure for your automobile can’ t be overemphasized. Check the pressure of the tires at least once a week, remember that even over-inflated tires lead to higher gas consumption.

3.Timely maintenance of your car that covers ensuring the right levels of all essential engine fluids and keeping all the systems in shape can make all the difference.

4.If you keep your car cleaned up, it not only enhances its sheen but also prevents any dirt or snow to create unnecessary drag and frees the engine from working harder.

5.Until it’ s absolutely necessary don’ t carry extra baggage in the car’ s trunk, as it would only increase the weight and force the engine to consume more gas.

6.Drive well within the fuel economy range of your vehicle, if you aren’ t already used to driving slow enough then you need to make some adjustments here, but be assured that the benefits are real. The difference of gas consumption between speeds of 55 and 65mph can be as big as 2MPG.

7.Accelerating your car like a dragster burns up fuel real quickly, whenever you have to step on the gas do it gradually.

8.If possible rest your left foot on the floor than on the brake pedal, as even a slight press on the brakes could significantly increase the drag.

9.Operate the air conditioner wisely and only when you need it. If you can make do just by opening the windows partially for cool air itâ s good. But remember that on highways opening up windows can backfire by creating more drag, so you are better off with the windows up and the air conditioner on. Further, once the inside weather is cool enough turn down the power of the air conditioner, lest it puts undue pressure on your car’ s engine.

10.Pick and choose the gas stations with the best prices in your area, there are lots of websites that keep a track of existing prices in different localities/regions.

11.Making good use of the discount gas schemes or gas rebate schemes of credit and club cards makes a lot of sense even if you save just a couple of cents on each visit to the station. Remember the good old quote a penny saved is a penny earned.

12.After referring to your own  manual, choose the lowest grade of engine oil available. No need to buy the premium grade unnecessarily.

13.Always shut the gas cap tight enough, or else the fuel could leak or evaporate.

14.If you need to travel just a small distance, prefer to walk. Not only would this help save gas but would also get the necessary physical exercise, so often recommended to live healthy.

15.Try to complete all your shopping on a single trip instead of visiting the market multiple times. Further, choose a shopping center that stocks a myriad of supplies so that you don’ t have to move from one area to another to shop for different items on your list.

16.Always drive moderately, as driving like you were in a great hurry would only make you brake and accelerate erratically, thus burning up more gas.

17.Cruise control, speed control or Autocruise, no matter which name you call it by, do make use of it when you are on a long trip on a highway.

18.Often not given enough weight though, idling can lead to significant fuel consumption. Avoid your car from idling and you would save quite a lot.

19.Try driving in the highest gear, the lowest gears are meant to get the car moving from the stationary position and cause the engine to consume more power than the higher gears.

20.Imitate truckers while approaching traffic lights. Truckers act wisely by looking ahead to see if the lights are about to turn red and accordingly begin to slow down as stopping is imminent. Further, if the lights are already red and you slowly cruise towards them they might turn green while you   are still rolling. Thus you won’ t have to stop at all.

21.Plan your trip so that you can decide upon the shortest route along several stops to complete the trip.

22.Buy a bicycle to use when the trips are too short to be covered by a car and too long to be completed by walking. Determine the yardsticks for too long and too short based on your own preferences.

23.Use public transportation whenever possible, not only can it save gas, but would also free you of the effort and care it takes to drive yourself.

24.Make use of a fuel catalyst, they can either be poured into the fuel tank at other times they need to be installed. The catalysts increase fuel economy by efficiently burning up the gas.

25.Cleaning, properly maintaining and replacing the air filters when needed also helps to augment the carâ s efficiency.

26.When you rev up the engine while starting up, and warm up in excess of about 30 – 40 seconds, it leads to undesirable gas consumption. Hence, a warm up of 30 – 40 seconds is just all right for the purpose.

27.Refer to the manual and follow the manufacturer’s advice for the maintenance schedule.

28.Use the manufacturer recommended motor oil as much and as often as it has been advised.

29.Get your vehicle refueled in the mornings or late evenings when it’ s cold. In low temperatures the oil is denser and hence you may get more gas for the same amount of money.

30.Avoid placing luggage on the rooftop unnecessarily as it creates a lot of drag by contorting the carâ s aerodynamics. In fact the best thing to do is to remove the roof rack completely, as even an empty rack causes sufficient drag.

31.Avoid using tires that are too broad, they might be fancy but certainly are deterrents to good fuel economy, as they create more drag.

32.Carpooling allows for savings not just for you but also for others around you.

33.Use manual transmission, as an automatic transmission still can’ t match your assessment.

34.Choose a route that’ s the shortest, has minimum traffic lights and low traffic.

35.Get your car refueled only when the gas is about to run out, this is so as even the weight of the gas can be considered as load that the engine needs to pull, thus leading to a greater gas consumption.

How to save fuel while driving

With fuel prices rising every time, questions arise hoping to keep the costs pressed, because owning a car is expensive enough with all the taxes and insurance costs coming into play. This article will help you save on fuel money without sacrificing mileage.

Save fuel – preparation
Obviously the car ultimately determines what it takes out of the tank; so if it’s possible consider buying an economy car with a high mpg (miles per gallon) rating. Hybrids are also a great way to go. But most of you reading will probably already own a car, so here are a few pointers to start saving after the initial purchase.

Use the secondary odometer to register miles per tank
After refuelling set the counter to 0. Then drive around and when the warning light comes on read the value. It should be around 150-300 miles, which is fine. Use it as a benchmark to see whether curtain techniques work for you.

Braking = loss of momentum
Most fuel is lost during acceleration of the car, that’s why ratings are much lower in cities or crowded areas. So with this in mind it’s a smart idea to participate on upcoming traffic lights and traffic jams.

To save fuel let loose of the accelerator way before actually stopping and press the brake pedal to finish the job. This will release the engine for the last 200-300 feet before the stop, thus distance gained on your average.

Note: In a tight traffic situation don’t release the throttle too early, it could annoy drivers behind you.

Close windows
A car comes out of the factory designed to punch a hole in the air. This ensures the best performance on the road and efficiency because the engine doesn’t have to work as hard. This balance is slightly disturbed when you open windows. Because what happens is that the air comes into the car, and slows it down. So for the best efficiency possible: close the windows.
Note: Saving fuel shouldn’t limit your comfort too much, it’s okay to open windows but at least consider it.

Buy most efficient fuel
I already said this in the intro. Use the odometer as benchmark to see which fuel works best in your car. Try different gas stations; the way they mix the fuel can be a difference like night and day. Also buy”premium” fuel once in a while, this will clean the pipes, V-power for example.

Change gears between 2250 – 2500 RPM
These values have been scientifically proven to provide the best fuel efficiency. So to save gas, try to change gears between these values. An added advantage of this principle is that your engine will stay quiet thus improving the comfort in the car.
Note: Some cars with really small engines

Biodiesel

It is common knowledge that there are many ways to conserve fuel. A person can save money by just walking when going outside or riding a bus, train, or any other public transportation. If one wants to use his car every single day, there is still a way to save money, and that is through the use of a fuel alternative.

The use of fuel alternative is very common today because of the on-going price hike of both gasoline and diesel. Fuel alternatives are cheaper than the ordinary fuel; however, even if it is cheap, this does not mean that it is dangerous to the environment.

One fuel alternative that a person may use is Biodiesel. This fuel is famous today because it uses cooking oil, vegetable oil, palm oil , restaurant greases, and animal fats as a source of fuel. Take note that the sources mentioned need not be unused; it can still be used even if it is recycled. Biodiesel is very effective because one’s vehicle can easily use this fuel alternative by just switching to an accessible Biodiesel kit. Also, it is safe and reduces harmful air pollutants caused by ordinary gas.

Fuel resources are not limitless, it will also disappear, and this is the reason why fuel alternatives were created. Other alternative fuel requires a specific type of engine in order to run; but there are others that may be actually used in one’s industry, machine or vehicle in order to save money and also energy.

Discover Today’s Alternative Fuel Car Benefits * Fuel Savers.

How 2 Save Fuel ( http://how2savefuel.com ) a Northridge, California based company is steadily nearing converting cars to hydrogen in a new and unique fashion. What they do is revolutionary, a huge step in the right direction, the most expert hydrogen hybrid solution on the market and an answer which is cheap.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars have been in the public field of vision for several years now, nevertheless we still don’t see them cuising the asphalt. The notion of making use of hydrogen as on might just be the long term remedysolution, but storing hydrogen on board is an unwise idea. Big fuel cells that put forth chemical disposal liabilities and the exigencyfor expensive infrastructure with hydrogen fueling facilities has cast far-reaching apprehension on the actuality of ever seeing hydrogen cars populate our roads.

How 2 Save Fuel (How2SaveFuel.Com), a Northridge, California located company is steadily moving towards the idea of upgrading fuel to hydrogen in a inventiveway.

Rather than exposing automobile owners to the hazards of carrying supplies of hydrogen on board their vehicles, their patent pending technology generates hydrogen which automobiles to hydrogen in the fuel mix promptly. How2SaveFuel.Com economically converts pre-existing vehicles to environmentally friendly hybrids one vehicle at a time with a system that extracts the hydrogen on demand from a reservoir of distilled water

Benefits
To begin with, miles per gallon increases completely on hydrogen hybrid system is installed. The exact amount of gains deviate considerably, but an average of 25 to 35% mpg boost is routine Additionally, consumers notice an increase hydrogen hybrid solution available and torque. A dynamometer test run recently on a 1989 Ford F250 Truck increased the horsepower from 181.75 to 188.75 and the torque from 266.20 ft pounds to 293.53. That equates to 7 more horsepower and 27.33 more foot pounds of torque.

But perhaps the largest dividend for all of us, markedly observable on older vehicle engines, is a startling lessening in smog emissions.

The advance on a tested Ford F250 was over a one third decrease in nitrous emissions and carbon emission dove down to zero, and this vehicle’s”before” results were within the passng numbers. This is great news for all, whether you believe in climate change or global warming or not since we can all agree less pollution would be a good thing

But with the”side-benefits” of increased gas mileage (mpg) and horsepower which will lead to a reduction of dependence upon imported fossil fuels it is obvious that what How2SaveFuel.Com is doing will become the normal power configuration for the generations to come to save fuel.
